Any card will work. But since it is PCI-E 2.0 if you get the super high-end cards they may be bottlenecked. Especially if you get more than one.

Edit: Misread your title. Still true that any card will work for you.

Bottlenecking is a term best demonstrated in this example. Take a cup of coffee, and a bottle of soda. Turn each upsidedown, how fast does each 'empty' its contents? The Soda takes a longer time as it is 'choked' in the bottle's neck to come out.

This is the same concept with data, if you have a fast hard drive, connected to fast RAM, but then a slow CPU, the GPU is waiting and waiting on the CPU to 'process' enough 'data' that the GPU can do its job, it 'lags' the game / application because it is twiddling its thumbs waiting on the CPU to hand over the data. The same happens if the HDD is slow, or the RAM is low quality, and so on.

I think what he was asking about was specifically all the people saying that PCI Express 2.0 is a bottleneck vs PCI Express 3.0. Which it is, in very specific circumstances. But not for the vast majority of people
