Hello all the wonderful people of tom's Hardware, I am in the market for a monitor, and I was wondering if 120 hz is really worth it with my current card. I get on average 75 fps in bf3, almost never dipping below 60fps. With that said, I do plan to have this monitor for the next 5+ years, and will upgrade my video card in less than 2 years. My question is, is it worth it to buy a 120hz monitor when in 2 years I will only be getting 60 frames/sec, or should I buy a nice IPS monitor. The difference between the two I have my eyes set on is about $50. I am comming from a 32 inch LCD tv, which gives me tons of motion blur, so I assume even upgrading to a monitor with a 2ms response time should be good.
These are the two monitors I have my sights on:

Thanks for any help.

2ms response times are a marketing gimmick. As for a suggestion, that ASUS VG248QE looks pretty good. The 144Hz refresh rate is good, if you have your eyes set on a mid-high range card.

I personally have a LG IPS 27EA33V, and I love the colors, and oc'd it to 74Hz.

So then, would you reccomend this Asus over the other IPS one because it can be overclocked to 72hz? I am going more for anti-ghosting than color accuracy, but this one did catch my attention. If the TN panels have as bad of color accuracy as I have heard, I might want to stick with an IPS.

I would suggest one of the 144Hz monitors you listed, but yes; don't get a TN panel.

The 144hz monitors are TN. I have a feeling I might be very dissapointed with the colors, since I am used to a TV with great picture quality, but 14ms response time. Even still, would you suggest going for the 144hz or should I go with a IPS?
