Don't every buy from tigerdirect, they are terrible and their prices generally are way - and I mean WAY - higher than they should be.
Well, that is not necessarily true. And dubious advice.
The advice is not dubious in the least. I've been following prices for over a year, and Tigerdirect is virtually always significantly more expensive than places such as ncix/directcanada, or smaller stores such as Anitec.
You are entitled to your opinion, and there it is. But all of the sources you are quoting below are on-line only, and require a credit card to purchase the goods. And if I don't want to use my credit-card online? Or choose not to / don't have one? Your suggestion is? BTW, I have bought and sold components and systems for much longer than a year - experience counts for something. You are not nearly as smart as you think you are.
In fact, lets do a little comparison of top sellers right now.
Seagate 320GB
Tigerdirect: 113 after $20 mail-in rebate
NCIX: 107
Directacanada.com: 99
Anitec: 99
Logic Computer House Store - Cash price - since no specific model specified above here we go (assuming SATA):
Seagate ST3320620AS Barracuda 7200.10 320GB 16MB 7200rpm SATA II (NCQ 3Gb/s)
Cash Price: $115.99
Reg. Price: $119.99
EVGA 680SLi
Tigerdirect: 333
NCIX: 289
Directacanada.com: 292
Anitec: 296
E6600
Tigerdirect: 439
NCIX: 380
Directacanada.com: 373
Anitec: 386
Need I go on? These were just random samples, and aren't even the most egregious examples.
I haven't gone into the other specific products you mentioned - I don't see the point. A famous quote comes to mind here: "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is". These prices you quote are much too good to be true.
If you want to throw away your money, by all means, shop at tigerdirect. I challenge you though to come up with a single (non-marginal) product that I can't find significantly cheaper elsewhere (in Canada) in under 5 minutes.
Throwing away money is a relative issue. Those who look at only the price are the cause of a huge component of the lack of service and support problems we encounter daily. I have been able to get service and support from Logic "above and beyond" because I have had a long term relationship with them, and have spent a few extra bucks over the years. This has saved my ass a number of times.
Morons like you, whose only concern is the absolute dollar amount, are the root cause of the situations that lead to threads like "Why are local computer stores full of idiot employees!?!?!?" You get what you pay for, if you are lucky. But since the majority of product has become commoditized, thanks to fools like you, warranties are short and limited and service and support are no longer generally available. Thank you very much. More appropriate to say: F$ck you very much, strong letter to follow.
As for VISTA - if you need to buy an OS right now, go buy XP MCE with the Vista upgrade coupon. Yes, it's a small pain in the rear, and they will charge (er, EXTORT) $28 from you for a supposedly free upgrade, but at least you will get the best of both worlds. Use XP (which is a good OS, and stable, and the media centre is quite good also) until Vista is ironed out and then simply install VISTA when you feel it's ready.

Your sugestion, given historical experience with MS, is dubious at best, and shows that you are a lieing fool and moron at worst.
At the very least, stop being so contemptuous and disrespectful of less knowledgable querants that you will deliberately mislead them. Go away
mythos, and don't come back until you are ready and willing to offer advice and suggestions that are approximately reasonable and connected to reality.
My embedded responses in blue. If one is going to offer advice, then full disclosure is a good idea, as is providing informationm to enable the querant to excerise "Informed Consent". Anything less is not only disrespectful, but contemptuous of the question. Lying to querqants is even worse.
