Question 120Hz with HDMI locked on Asus VG249Q Monitor

Hello guys, recently i purchased an Asus VG249Q monitor for the IPS, 1ms and 144Hz. However the HDMI cable that came in the box won't let me get over 120Hz, 144Hz is not even listed as an option. When I look online people don't seem to have this problem at all so either I'm doing something wrong or something IS wrong. I can't seem to be able to upload pictures from my computer here?

Don't have a displayport cable atm gonna have to cop one tommorow but they're like 20$

Nah it came with a HDMI
