120mhz LED TV but cannot get 6870 to output above 60hz

120Hz HDTVs and 120Hz monitors do not operate the same way.

120Hz HDTVs only accept 60Hz inputs. The electronics inside the HDTV doubles the number of frames displayed by created an interpolated frame between two actual frames. This is basically done to make movies and video play smoother. But for games it increases input lag because it takes time to create each interpolated frame. So... basically 60Hz in, 120Hz out.

120Hz monitors accepts 120Hz inputs and it also outputs at 120Hz.

There is a way to have the TV display a TRUE 120HZ, rather than use frame interpolation.
Your HDTV only shows up as 60Hz in Windows, but you are able to add an option to output a 120Hz signal. Normally this is considered Overclocking your monitor but in this case the TV is already displaying 120Hz, but from a 60Hz signal.

If you just force a 120Hz signal (Look up Monitor overclocking guides, same way) and disable the Motion smoothing in your TV's setup menu, then your HDTV will then be displaying a 1080p signal at a REAL 120Hz.
