Question 12600k or 12700k for gaming + graphic design

Hello y'all,

I'm confused between the two cpus i5 12600k and i7 12700k.

I'll be mainly using it for graphic design along with gaming sometimes...

It's a $100 difference and I'm willing to pay the extra $90 if it means a much better CPU over the long run.

A little bit faster, really depends on how much you saturate the cores.

Consider the i7-12700F, still boosts to 4.9Ghz, missing the integrated graphics, but is only $310, rather than $380

Between the two, the i7-12700K doesn't seem to justify its cost delta over the i5-12600K in most tests. Though the caveat is you should be using Windows 11 to get the most out of the processor.

I suppose the only other difference is Intel CPU Boost 3.0 on the i7 and not on the i5. With K it doesn't matter much because you can overclock with the right motherboard (Though the power draw of these things is not to be under-estimated)

Even with the locked i7 or i5, you can unlock the power limits in the BIOS, as long as you have decent cooling.
