When I look at various ASRock/Gigabyte motherboards, particularly with an AM5 socket, the max RAM is sometimes a kit of 64 GB. But I want 128 total. Even on the ASRock site, it says not to consolidate from multiple kits. This implies these motherboards aren't qualified with 4 x 32 modules for 128 GB. Is this correct?

ASUS seems to be an exception. They specifically list the kits and their boards do support 128 GB.

I actually have 128GBs of DDR5 5200 MT RAM in my *yes* ROG Maximus Z690 HERO cuz I wanted something more then 64 Gigs as well & no it doesn't matter if you consolidate RAM sticks together as long as you can make them work in tagent . . . as well as equal frequencies . . . just be sure to double check if their XMP Comp as I learned that the hardest way . . . .

to be qualified with 4x32 modules, the motherboard should have 4 slots. if the motherboard has 4 slots and also it supports 128 gigs, then yea, you can put 4x32 modules of the same kit. (the is to ensure there will be no performance issues and/or compatibility issues)

Asus lists the kits that they have tested to work with their mobos, but others will also work if they are in spec with the motherboards capabilities.

Interesting. Two contradictory answers. The first poster is claiming to have mixed kits (and they work) but the second poster says not to mix kits.
But neither answered my query as to why neither ASRock or Gigabyte have qualified any 128 GB kits for their motherboards and yet they claim their boards support up to 192 GB RAM.
