12GB RAM, only 8GB showing in Windows and BIOS

Hi all!

I recently upgraded my ram to 3x4GB sticks of KHX1600C9D3. I installed them in my system but only 8GB is showing up in both Windows and the BIOS.

Although when running CPU-Z it shows the size of 12228MB, but running in dual channel mode.

I have a Asus P6X58E WS Motherboard and both Kingston and Asus support lines are closed

Any help regarding this issue would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Hello,

Update your BIOS to the latest version and then check the amount of memory in the BIOS. Could you let me know the windows version you are using like 32Bit Professional etc?

I managed to solve the problem.

I ended up testing each RAM stick in pairs, which worked out fine. Then I reinstalled the third stick and the system booted with 12gb. I guess one of the sticks had an improper contact.
