12gb vs 16gb (with test)

Hi all...i have a strange doubt...
I try to assemble my frankenstein computer and I have these ram:

• 
  2x4gb corsair xms3 1600mhz 9-9-9-24 1.65v
  2x2gb hyper x genesis 1600mhz 9-9-9-23 1.65v
  2x4gb geil 1333mhz 9-9-9-24 1.5v

my system is:
asus p8p67 mobo with an (i have to choose between an i7 2600k and a newer i3 3220...i choose the i7 i hope i didn't do the wrong choice) i7.

ok...
i run the passmark software with:

corsair + hyper x = 12gb
and with
corsair + geil = 16gb

and the result was that the 12gb configuration was a bit faster in reading and writing (800mb/s) and a lower latency of 0,5ns

now...16gb could be good even for gaming that for app like Photoshop or Premiere/vegas, but i don't know how really fast could be that 12gb to justify the passage between 16 to 12.
What I have to do? 16? or 12? in your opinion

oh I first use pc for gaming but I plan to use it for work too (PS/videoediting but something small not big projects)

Your Mobo is dual channel, Ie: pairs. So ideally you want 2 or 4 sticks. If you do video editing, 2x8Gb will definitely be better.

I can't efford the cost of new ram now...so I have that for free and I'd like to know the best composition I could do with that ram...
I know that a 2x8 o 4x4 would be defintely better... =(

my question besically is: better more memory or is better lower latency and write speed...

Doubt you will notice any difference in gaming, for the video work more is better so would go the 16GB
