[SOLVED] 12th gen intel...

Solution
If you're asking whether the CPU socket retention mechanism has been re-engineered to address the recent concerns with concavity, then no, it has not been. So yes, the problem I outlined in your other thread still exists and in fact has not even been publicly recognized as a problem by Intel. Only those in the field like Igor, Buildzoid and some others have recognized this as even being a problem. The fact is, many users won't even be aware of this issue unless they are overclocking to the edge of the fuzzy gray line where thermal compliance might become a concern and a difference of five degrees becomes fundamentally important.

For a stock configuration, so long as care is taken during the installation of the CPU, and it gets a proper application of thermal interface material (Paste) along with a decent cooler with adequate capability, it is probably never even going to be on your radar. It is however something to just be aware of in the even that you do decide to overclock or in case you go with a really high end model and have any kind of thermal issues, you can at the least be in the know and understand that there are likely some mitigations like the washer mod available to you.

Hey Breeze. THx

I was watching a jayztwocents vid on how some games are being affected with the new gen. But i had not heard of the cpu installation issue. do you forsee me having any issues installing the cpu into the prime mobo i mentioned? i also ordered a lian li aio that comes with the 1700 bracket. thx

what nvme's should i get in order to get max speeds? performance? thx
In theory, it supports PCIe 5.0 drives.

But these are only being released in the last few weeks.

In actual use?
You can't tell the difference between any NVMe drive.
PCIe 3.0, 4.0, 5.0...

In actual use, can you tell the difference between 0.2 sec and 0.1 sec?
No.

Hey, sorry on that. I guess I misunderstood the question that you raised. I thought you were talking about the socket issue that I mentioned in ONE of your build threads, which, by the way, not to be a jerky, but, could probably have asked all those questions in one thread, but honestly these days, not like we're all that taxed anyhow. So yeah, different issues, and gotta say thanks for these other very experienced folks for chiming in.

Are you referring to backwards compatibility issues with older games DRM and anti-cheat tools? Disabling the E cores will get those working if you have any must have older titles, but many have been fixed as well.
Those issues seem to be fixed completely by now.

So yeah, no DRM issues anymore. But the old workaround with disabling e-cores via a hotkey combo should still work. See herefor it:

Personally, I had no issues yet with my CPU, nor Windows 11 for that matter.
