Hello, so i need a laptop for college.

USES:
Will mostly do programming stuff.
I multitask a lot so there's that (will a 1366 x768 screen give me less space to work with?
And possibly will watch tons of YT and movies on it when im relaxing (but this is a minor factor).

So i have no idea how small 1366 x 768 is compared to a 1920x1080 screen. So is it worth it to get a 1366 x 768 laptop? im at a budget and dont want to get a laptop over $400 but am eyeing this 1920x1080 laptop which is well beyond my budget and idk if its worth it or not. I found a few laptops with similar specs with a 1366 x 768 screen

Heres the 1920x1080 laptop:

should i buy it or just a 1366 x 768 laptop with same specs?

Solution
1920x1080 screen has twice as much pixels than 1366x768. If you ask me, that lowres version should never be sold in the first place.

For programming / creative work, Full HD screen is a must. You'll be able to fit much more on the screen than on 1366x768.

You're probably young, and have good eyesight. Lowres screen will not help it. The full HD laptop you mentioned is not that much more expensive than $400.

Yes, a 1366 x 768 screen will give you less desktop space to work with. Watching YT videos should not be a problem.

The best way to see the difference between 1366 x 768 and 1920 x 1080 (1080p) is to actually go to a computer store like Best Buy and check out the laptops.

- Simply look for a 15.6" laptop with a 1080p screen.
- Right click on the desktop, go to graphic options, resolution, then select 1366 x 768

Lowering the resolution of a 1080p screen to 1366 x 768 will make the text look a bit less sharp, but this is typical when using any resolution that is less than the max resolution of a LCD screen (applies to monitors as well). A laptop with a 1366 x 768 screen will look sharp.

Play around with it and judge for yourself if 1366 x 768 resolution is good enough for you. I personally do not like using a laptop with such low resolution. Well... exception is maybe a laptop with something like a 11.6" to 12.5" screen since everything will look tiny if it has a 1080p screen. But scaling could be used to increase the size of text and icons.

To get to "Scale and Layout":

- Right click on the desktop
- Click Display Settings

IMHO 1366x768 is barely acceptable on a 13" screen, and preferable on a 10"-11" screen.

1920x1080 is comfortable on a 15.6" screen. 1366x768 is way too low unless you're elderly. If you have normal vision for a 0-60 year old, not only will the pixels be visible on 1366x768 @ 15.6", but the black borders between pixels will be visible too making the image distracting even while watching video.

The situation isn't quite so bad if you only use text apps in Windows (e.g. Office). Windows uses subpixel rendering for text (they call it ClearType), which essentially turns 1366x768 into 4098x768 resolution for rendering text. That helps, at least horizontally.

But for anything involving graphics, you'll be happier with 1920x1080.

acer aspire e15, 8 gb ddr4, ssd, 1080p screen, mx150 gpu, backlit keyboard, disk drive, i5 8th gen for under $600. whats your budget?
