I want to get a 390x and I was going to get a 60 hz 1440p monitor but I've been told it's better to get a 144hz 1080p monitor. This seemed strange considering that 8gb of vram is really made for 1440p and 4k so if anyone could shed some light on this topic it would be greatly appreciated.

thanks everyone

Well if you buy the 390x then the 144 hz option would be something you could definitely take advantage of as the gpu would be able to deliver around or over 120 fps at 1080p on most games on high to max settings. I believe 1080p at 144 hz would be a great gaming experience versus 1440p at 60 hz. What size screen are we talking about here? If it's a 27" then I would lean more towards the 1440p considering how far you would be from the screen but anything below that, 1080p at 144 hz would be great

I'm looking at two 1440p monitors - one 25" the other 27"
