144 Hz Issue

Hey guys! Recently had just i bought a AOC G2460PF 24" monitor. Was really excited to get this as it features 144 hz and 1 ms responce time. The only issue is 144hz wont work! I currently am using a DVI cable to connect to my GTX 1070. The driver for the card is up to date as well. The screen tends to go black and re appears and when I set it to 144hz, this is what happens. http://imgur.com/5FP8XOa
Not my monitor but the same issue. Looks about the same.

Standard DVI will not support 144hz
Dual link will.

It needs to be one of the 9.9Gbps version on both ends of the cables and the device it is plugging into.

I'd just use DP or HDMI 2.0 if those were options.
