I'm currently looking for a monitor for my PC. I am just awaiting delivery of my build and it is my first gaming PC.

I ordered :

Intel® Core™ i5-7500 CPU

Corsair Vengeance® LPX 8GB (2x4GB) DDR4 DRAM 2666MHz

ASUS GeForce® GTX 1060 Dual OC 3GB

Im told 144hz is the best option at 24" wide. The only issue is i'm on a budget.

The Acer Predator GN246HL 24" is coming in at £179.00.

Would this be a good monitor for my build? Or would it not be worthwhile at 144, and maybe I should around 75hz?

Honestly, the best choice would be a Monitor with G-Sync and/or Freesync support. But these are very expensive and since you're on a budged maybe you can't/don't want to spend that money.

If you used a 30 or 60hz monitor before, a 144hz is still an upgrade non the less. I personally own a BenQ monitor and therefore have no experience with Acer. But it seems reasonably priced so I think this will be ok.

Keep in mind tho, that with a GTX 1060 you will not be able to play mondern games on max settings with 144 FPS and will therefore not be able to take full advantage of it, but for games like CS:GO, Dota, etc. you will. You should definitely choose a 1080p monitor tho, because 1440p will most likely be too much for your GPU at high...
