144 hz problem

So i just bought the acer gn246hl 144 hz, bought a new dvi d dual link cable cause the monitor ddnt come with its own DVI-D dual link but im stuck at 60hz. I can't go further 60. keep saying i have the wrong cable.

my gpu is geforce 1060 3gb oc

Only Dual Link DVI supports 144Hz on that monitor as you noted. What cable did you buy?
