Hi,

I'm looking to buy a new monitor that comes under 1440p resolution and 144hz, 27 inches.

I am asking the community for any recommendations. I have my eye on one or two but I don't know much about monitors.

Samsung CHG70 - which is curved

Samsung CFG70 - wwhich is 1080p but 144hz.

I am wondering whether it would or wouldn't be appropriate for a 1080p nowadays and whether or not it would look any good when the screen size is 27 inches.

Thanks,

GPU: GTX 1060 6GB
CPU: I5 6600K
RAM: 16GB 1866MHZ

Assuming, this is related to gaming, your specs are not strong enough to support 1440p/144hz together. You can go for a 1080p/144hz unit as long as you do not expect ultra on most games. But your card is best suited for 1080p/60-75hz ultra on most games.

Would you recommend me upgrading to a GTX 1080 and keep the cpu the same?

Recommended minimum GFX Cards (nVidia / AMD) for various resolutions on 144 hz monitors:

Recommendation is based upon "playable frame rates", not 143 fps. For example Witcher 3 @ 60 fps / GTAV @ 100 fps

1080p - 1060 3GB / RX 570
1440p - 1070 / None
2160p - None * / None

None exist as yet but when they drop (Acer and Asus postponed theirs from this month to 1Q 2018 because if yield issues). At that time it will be 2 x 1080 Ti or next gen stuff

As for size, it's all about PPI or pixel density. 27" at 1080p is not a good idea if you have normal vision. You don't want to have a PPI less than 96 or so if ya have normal vision and sitting at typical viewing distances.

As for CPU, Sandy bridge CPUs are still doing well in gaming boxes.

I know I would. Hellfire is right about the system being 1440p/144Hz challenged. The 1080 would help that. Are you looking at something like the G1?

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009769 would meet your needs.

65 - 70 fps in say Witcher 3 w/ a 1070 is not enough ?

(4) 144Hz monitors here

I was talking about possible ultra settings on most games, as per my last post. :)
