Im currently looking at a 1440p monitor that is currently on sale, everything about this panel seemed pretty solid except when I looked at the Contrast Ratio (1000: 1). I have noticed on many other IPS panels having 1,000,000: 1 or 80,000,000: 1 Ratios and am afraid that if I buy this monitor I will be getting faded/washed out images.

Does Contrast Ratio take a big toll on picture quality? or am I overreacting...

Thanks.

Solution
Take the advertised contrast ratio with a grain of salt. Look at the reviews of the monitor and see what people think, usually the 1 million to 1 etc... is based on perfect conditions, a small section of the screen, all sorts of things.
