1440p/60hz vs 1440p/144hz

For my PC build I have a Gigabyte gtx 970 G1; which one do you think would be of better value?

With a single 970 you're not going yo push more than 60fps generally at 1440p mate
If youre ever going sli the 144htz will be worth it but with a single card you'd be wasting money IMO.

Yea that's what I was thinking; just needed confirmation. I was thinking of going SLI, but thought it would be better to wait for Nvidias Pascal cards. My justification for purchasing the Acer predator was that I could still use it, (even though not achieving 144hz), and it would mean I wouldn't have to upgrade my monitor sooner.

If you can catch a good sale, a 970 SLI setup would be a good match to handle 1440p @ 144hz.

Do you have a good CPU and motherboard capable of at least x8 / x8 PCIe support to drive dual GPUs?
