1440p Downsampled look SO small!

When I use downsampling on a virtual machine of my iMac 24" 1080p monitor, 1440p looks much smaller. I mean everything-the taskbar, icons, images. Is this the same as on native 1440p monitors? Why does it look so small? I thought it would look larger as there are more pixels!

More pixels mean things look smaller.

The scale, size and appearance of these things depends on what OS you're using, and what scale options it has. Windows has a resize option in the Control Panel under "Appearance and Personalization < Display", so try that.
