1440p gaming with GTX 1070

Solution
For example, Battlefield 1 gets 70-90 on most maps. Mordor stayed nearly pegged at 120. Witcher tho, was right at 60. Divinity 2 is in the 90s.

And I would recommend the S2716DG over the other unless you just must have IPS. Not going to tell a difference between 144hz and 165hz and you save $265 (at least here in the States). Gsync is the big win on these - love it.

I can confirm that the 1070 is ample for 2.5K gaming. I'm currently running one with a 4K monitor, and while it doesn't play 4K very well (WoW runs ok at 4K, but not much else), pretty much anything I throw at it in 2.5K rez works great. For example, Doom (latest release), Space Engineers, Witcher 3, all with settings at max or near max. 50-60 fps without issues.
I'm running the Asus ROG STRIX Gaming, with a very slight overclock and fan adjustment.

Should be good. Expect more like 60fps than 120fps in AAA games.

I had a 1070 with i7-6700K and it wasn't quite enough to run Mass Effect Andromeda at 2160p. I had to turn too many settings down to get it playing smoothly. I ended up settings the resolution to 1440p, on that one.

Of course for more detail you could just look up the review of the GTX 1070 on Toms.
