Rig is as follows;

i5 6600k @ 4.7Ghz

1070GTX

16GB of DDR4 RAM @ 2133Mhz

Is it worth me actually going for 1440p or just get a new 1080p monitor that's bigger than my aging 24" one?

I am not entirely sure I could get above 80/90fps considering what some people say about the scaling etc but I've never tried 1440p hence why I'm asking here :D

Solution
Thats a great monitor for AMD given its freesync. Guess long as the 1070 can produce the FPS should be good. You could get lucky also with that monitor if Nvidia started supporting freesync dow the road.

Hmmm promising then, do you run on 1440p etc yourself or just know? just curious if you do what games you play and what kind of fps you get

I don't personally but I've done lots of research and watching videos and I can tell you it will run games well in 1440p. I'd recommend watching this video if you have the time.

The 1070 does really well on 1440P with monitors 100hz and less. You dont really even need g-sync.

For IPS monitors 4ms is the lowest. You could get this TN panel with only 1ms. This one is a 75hz.

If your willing to run at lower setting this 144hz may be a better deal.

The Acer - XG270HU would probably be a better suit for me as it means if I get another 1070 however long or wait and got a 1080ti or a 2085px or whatever comes after it would be able to take advantage of the refresh rate rather than being capped.

Gonna sound a bit nit picky but they don't do a black version of the monitor do they, I must admit I'm not a fan of the copper look, it's a nice monitor but that colour scheme is bad haha
