Im currently in the process of buying a new monitor, going from a 23in LG 1080p ips monitor too possibly a 1440p monitor, I do have r9 290's crossfired, So I am set for 1440p.

Monitors I have been looking at are the Acer and Asus that are linked below. My question is, Is there any viable visible difference between the two? Besides cosmetics and the stand... Is the screen itself better or worse then each other?

Opinions Please!

Monitors:
Acer

Asus

I think it is. I don't think a muddied experience with the acer would be worth the still high price. When I went to purchase it was between the asus PB278Q, the acer K272HUL the Asus PB289Q 4k screen. It was an easy choice to invest more for a higher quality panel due to all the time I spent looking at it.

I think the only solution that the acer makes sense in is you absolutely must have 1440p gaming, semi-washed out colors and lower contrast don't matter much in the games you are playing and your budget can't go beyond the Acer.

I purchased mine open box, so the difference wasn't as great, but even at the 130 dollar difference, if you spend more than a few hours a day on the screen, use it professionally or are bothered by...
The Asus panel is far better. I just purchased the PB278Q myself. It's superb. The color reproduction is fantastic. The issues with it are a noticeable (slight) light bleed from the lower left edge when viewing dark content and somewhat unintuitive OSD buttons.

I've researched a lot of the direct comparison of these two monitors. The Acer has lousy color reproduction, is very flimsy and doesn't do well in reducing blur/ghosting on high refresh content. This was from multiple reviews that compared the two, along with other competitors such as viewsonic and dell, as well as the pro lineup from each manufacturer.

The asus is also a bit slow compared to TN panels, but I haven't noticed significant blur or ghosting of any type when gaming at 60fps/vsync (OC'ed 280x with not the most demanding games)

I really purchased the monitor for a more comfortable 3d modeling and architectural drafting workstation screen. It's fantastic in that regard as well. The contrast and clarity is amazing. There hasn't been a sunny day yet (sigh) so I can't comment on direct light glare but direct overhead lighting is no issue at all, night or day.

Excellent response, thank you for this.
As the Asus is better than the Acer, Is the price difference worth the leap? 130 dollar difference, Is it worth?

Awesome! Okay thank you for directing me to the right path, Open box Asus, is now a option for me 😀

Acer = Budget, Asus = worth.
