I recently purchased a LG UltraGear 27GP850-B 27" QHD 165Hz Gaming Monitor, and gaming on it at 1440p is great, no concerns. (Previously running a 1080p monitor).

However when I log in remotely to work I note that my work system is optimized for 1080p. So the font is really difficult to read and gives me a headache no matter how much I increase or decrease the size of my font.
I managed to get around this by setting the resolution of my monitor to 1080p and now it's fine.

Whilst I am glad I have a solution, its a bit of a pain having to constantly switch back and fourth between resolutions, is there a way where I can set the desktop resolution to 1080p, but have it switch over automatically to 1440p in games?

For 2nd option, optimize the work system to 1440p, so you can keep 1440p all around.
I tried this as well, but I can't seem to get the display size to be the same, I've tried 125% - 150% and manual sizes in between, but it was a no go.

I also need to change the picture mode from 'Gaming' to 'Reading' and the overdrive mode from 'Fast' to 'Normal' So its fine I'll just have to get used to my little routine before and after work.

I guess its the sacrifice you make for a more budget friendly panel.
