1440p on a 24

So I'm wanting to get a new monitor and I've been looking at the Dell S2417DG, I really want to go to 1440p but I hear some people say it's not worth it unless it's at least a 27 inch, so is that true? Does 1440p not look good on a 24?

Also I've got a I7-7700k with a GTX 1070

Solution
I don't think they are trying to imply that "1440p looks bad on a 24 inch screen". What they are implying is that the pixel density is too high at that screen size, and that it might be a better deal to get a bigger screen for that resolution.

I personally don't think that is necessarily true though. If you are only planning to buy one screen then maybe 27inches is the way to go, but if you will buy multiple screens then 24 inch screens might be better since they will be slightly less expensive and look great.

Also forget about Gsync it is a temporary gimmick. New HDMI revisions will support adaptive sync technology natively and it will probably work in both AMD and Nvidia cards.

I see your system specs, so it seems you have money in...

1440p seems like a temporary transition between 1080p and 4K I really don't think it is a resolution worth upgrading to.

I barely made the jump to 1080p about a year ago lol, but I went from single screen to triple screen, so it is a bigger jump than it seems.

I suggest making upgrades that are more significant.

You kinda got me thinking about just doing a triple set up, how would 3 of these be? https://www.amazon.com/AOC-i2367Fh-23-Inch-Frameless-LED-Lit/dp/B009V8F700/ref=as_li_ss_tl?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1462018738&sr=1-21&refinements=p_n_feature_keywords_two_browse-bin:6570747011,p_n_size_browse-bin:3547805011&linkCode=sl1&tag=slogee-20&linkId=81f5a5481a156ea6e6d081fa996e6428

@ Repo: 1080 is good for 4k displays

@ MotoNate: I have a triple monitor setup of three 1080p monitors and it is great for productivity, but I didn't really like it for gaming at all. I don't regret getting the setup because I actually do a lot of work on my computer, but if you only want the wide view for gaming, maybe consider one of those ultra-wide monitors.
The problem with the triple setup is a lack of compatibility for most games, and when you wanna play a game that does work with it, you have to go through a 4-minute process of enabling the feature via graphics drivers.
It is a bit of a pain to use for gaming, to be honest. Not only that, but the peripheral vision becomes distorted so it was actually causing rapid eye fatigue on me, and I was also performing worse in online games such as rocket league.

I really liked my triple setup for multitasking though. I am pretty sure triple monitors are better for multitasking than a single ultra-wide.
