Hey guys,
Recently I've been thinking about getting a new monitor but I am not really sure which one I wanna get... my setup is : I7 4790k, gtx 970 and I have 8gigs of RAM. So I was thinking if I should get 144hz 1440p or is that an overkill for my rig? I know I'd have to lower the settings in some games a fair bit but at the same time having such a monitor is an investment for future since I might get a new pc in few years... so what do you guys think? Should I stick with 1080p and 60-75hz or go for 1440p, 144hz?

1440p is a better investment. Monitors usually last the longest between upgrades so more than likely you'll upgrade your gpu eventually even in the next system.

Plus at 1440p don't really need much antialiasing (more fps) if any at all, I don't use any on a 27" screen.

I would suggest 1440p. Prices are +/- the same, but 1440p resolution is something that you will enjoy (Just don’t fall for “gaming”, or RGB monitors). However 970 will be not enough for gaming on High settings. So I would recommend upgrade your GPU (for a decent new Radeon) and enjoy your gaming on max 👍🏼

Yeah the new Radeon would be nice but that would mean a new motherboard and RAMs so basically a new pc... and I don’ t have the money for that right now... so I guess I’ ll have to accept the lower game settings for some time :D

I also was upgrading my PC step by step. Start with a monitor, slowly and patiently you will have your gaming monster 🖥
