I got myself a GTX1070 and now need a new monitor. I hate screen tearing and stuttering because I was spoiled by years of being an Amiga user at constant 50fps - 60fps. Because of this I never turned vsync off since I started using PC's around 2004 when Amiga browsers were finally obsolete.

Of course vsync causes problems when GPU can't keep up with the monitors refresh rate so I must buy a gsync monitor. I have three monitors on my mind:

1-) PG279Q : 1440p - 165hz - IPS - GSYNC
2-) PG27AQ: 4k - 60hz - IPS - GSYNC
3-) The unreleased 144hz 4k IPS GYNC monitor by ASUS.

I want my games to be at least "smooth" regardless of the refresh rate. In my experience, 50hz is smooth. Since the monitors are gsync, I will get smooth motion regardless of the refresh rate.

My questions:

Is GTX 1070 powerful enough to run all games at at least 50fps with maximum detail (minus extremely demanding things like maximum foliage in Witcher3 or maximum grass in GTA5) at 1440p and with antialiasing at 8x or at least 4x? If, not I will install this card to my work computer and get myself a 1080 or 1080ti.

Are 4k monitors there yet regarding latency and contrast? Would the gtx1080 or the ti version run every game at at least 50hz in maximum detail?

Does 1080p look and scale better on 1440p or 4k?
I have seen 1440p in motion on a 4k ASUS monitor and it looked really good unlike 1080p which was blurred too much. Would it be a good idea to get the 4k monitor and game at 1440p if the game does not run smooth enough? Never seen 1080p games on a 1440p monitor.

at 27" the PG279Q will provide the best experience of them all.
remember 4K is still changing, both monitor and GPU side. you will feel out of spec faster on that 60Hz 4K than the 1440p/144hz + GTX 1070.

going to pay out 800 dollars for that monitor ? I had them both 4k and the model just mentioned its all over the internet that model has bad reviews for back light bleeds and dead pixels save a few or more hundred dollars and invest in a 4k monitor but 1 gtx 1070 won't cut it for 4k but if you're not the type that worries about sli scaling I have 2 gtx 1070s in SLI and a hb bridge and don't have any microstutter or anything infact if i'm right jayz2cents mentioned if you have microstutter it's not in the games it's in your system that's lagging
I have 2 gtx 1070s in SLI period with a hb bridge not the flimsy types , I get all my game running maxed out pushing around 100 fps 100 frames per second in 4k is a lot
that's a hell a lot of power to push maxed out new games running 100 fps in 4k not the old games hell mafia 2 ran on mine over 250 fps in 4k that's alittle too much
