Should I get a 1440p 60hz monitor or a 4k 60hz monitor? I have about 375 bucks and you cant really get a 144hz 1440p monitor for this price and I cant get a gync monitor because of the price.

Should I get a 4k monitor and downscale some games if I need to or stick to 1440p?

How does running 1440p on 4k work? I would like 4k for some videos and some games like csgo. I have been running 75hz for a long time with games like csgo and it isnt bad.

You could, but as mentioned above, you'll have downscaling which doesn't look spectacular.

Personally, I still get excited looking at a 1440p monitor since I've always been on 1280x800 for years. If you feel like the occasional 4k game is worth it at lowish framerates, then go for it.

But a 1440p gsync monitor is generally regarded as the holy grail sweet spot, especially with a GTX 1070.

I think you'll be unhappy with your framerate at 4k.

GTX 1070 was designed for 1440p gaming, so I recommend you get the 1440p monitor (preferably with gsync but all good if you can't).

Don't go to a steakhouse and order the sushi.

Cheers mate, that's a great graphics card.

i run 1440P on 4k all the time for some games because of bad scaling. it doesn't look as good as native 4K but looks better then 1080P on 4K since AA seems to look off even when heavy AA is utilized at 1080P on 4K panel. AA is not perfect at 1440P on 4k but it is acceptable. Ideally if you had another gtx 1070 in SLI or a GTX 1080 (single ok if you turn down settings but again SLI be better for max settings @4K60hz)

I would be able to play some games like csgo at 4k and just play the others at 1440p. Should I do this because the pricing is about the same?

Would you recommend 4k or 1440p?

I'd buy a 24" 1080P 144hz g-sync display for that money. If you must have the higher pixel count, with a 1070 i'd go for 1440P because downscaling to 1440p or 1080p usually doesn't look quite right.

I'd get 4K. lower settings when you need to for 4K gaming...when necessary set in game resolution to 1440P. I am doing that now with 2 GTX 980s (around the performance of your single GTX 1070 maybe a little more FPS on my part but not much) and am quite happy knowing my next upgrade will likely give me 4K60hz when i grab either 2 gtx 1080s or Ti when they launch. I am very heavy on AA and filtering though so I tend to always need a second card for SLI when most are happy with one.
