1440p scaling on a asus PB278q 4k monitor

hey guys,

im just trying to decide whether to get this 4k monitor or just go with a 1440p monitor.

It'll be used for gaming. I understand the fps situation etc between the resolutions so dont worry about that my only question is if i have the 4k monitor and i choose to run a game at 1440p to get higher frames will the 4k monitor scale to that resolution properly? Will it look as good as a native 1440p monitor? Or does the quality suffer as its not the native resolution.?

Upscaling on any monitor will result in blurring. It'll scale to any 16:9 resolution fine though.

As in scaling down will not be blurry and should be fine?

Both up and down results in blur.

Down improves it to an extent that's why so many use nvidia dsr or antialiasing (works the same in the essence of supersampling). Down is taking a bigger res and scaling it down. Up is taking a smaller one and scaling it up.
