Just curious if this build is good for some video editing and 1440p gaming? I recently had to lower the budget of my build and am wondering if this is a good compromise?

GTX 970 is more power efficient and overclocks better (non overclocked the 390 outperforms it slightly) 980/980 ti = much better but maybe out of your budget. Depends on preference - 390 generally better, but 970 is better when overclocked (also I think it's quieter, but don't quote me on that xD - not too sure, think i read it somewhere)
Otherwise, that is an awesome build for gaming and video editing (although you couldnt go wrong with 32gb ram if its not too far out of your budget)
