Hello All,

I've gone through a lot of posts for the same question. But i'm not able to make up my mind. I've got a HP a6540in PC. Planning to get a graphic card for it. After going through the discussions most of them recommend going for ATI. I'm not sure if i should be using ATI on a nvidia chipset. Here is the PC configuration:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01357119&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=in&lang=en&product=3750810

I've shortlisted 9800GT. My budget is between 100-110 USD or 5-6K INR. What would be the best one to buy. I'm open for ATI, provided it works well for me. I plan to play mostly FPS games like COD4, Op Flash Point...and want to play it with full settings.

I've got a 250W PSU which i want to upgrade. I plan to get a 460W. Will that be OK?

Thanks,
Saurabh.

A 4830's performance is similar to an overclocked 9800GT(But the 4830 still would be little more powerful)

Whether a 350W would be able to power that card or not, would depend on the quality of that PSU...
A high quality 350W PSU should be able to power the 4830...But if it is a low quality one, then I doubt it would...

And there would be no problems using an ATI card with Nvidia chipset.

Thanks for your reply. I have a few more queries. HD 4850 is little out of my budget. Its expensive here in India. How about a HD 4830? And for the power supply can a 350 do? And ATI should not be a problem with the nvidia chipset?

Increase your budget to 6-7K INR and get the HD 4850.
It is available for around 6.7K And 9800GT is 5.6K.
But 4850 is noticeably faster and will last for a longer time.

Don't tell me you are thinking about Coolermaster 460W?

Thanks for the recommendation....Corsair is pretty expensive for me....but then I would now definitely for a HD4050 and a Gigabyte Superb 460W OR a VIP PSU OR Antec 380W...whichever is cheaper.... :D

thanks everyone for help

Gigabyte is the cheapest of the lot.
It will be around Rs2200.

Actually 3-4 months ago I planned to upgrade my GPU and PSU.
I ended u buying a 9800GT(Zotac,cost around 5.8k) And the corsair CX400 for 3k.

Well the corsair seems expensive but it is worth every penny.

Well here is the link for gigabyte Superb price...
