I am building a new computer from scratch. I currently have an ASUS Led 24' 1080p 75hz monitor. I have the chance to upgrade to BenQ Zowie 24" 144Hz, 16:9 Aspect Ratio e-Sports Monitor. If I get the monitor, I am buying a GTX 1060 3gb. If I keep my current monitor, I can get a GTX 1070.

I pretty much only play league of legends, world of warcraft, and watch videos online, to include pron.

What is the better choice here? (The CPU i am getting is a 7700k)

Hmmmm interesting choice. Personally I would get a 1070. I have one and its awesome. Also in terms of price per frame rate its the best bang for your buck by far. However, based on ur usage I'm not sure you'll need it. If I recall those games aren't super demanding and a 1060 will be more than enough to handle 1080p 60hz, but now that I think about it I'm not sure a 1060 will be able to handle 144hz. Maybe on those games but def not on more demanding games so you might have to lower certain setting to maintain a good frame rate. So I would say get the 1070 for now and keep saving and get a better monitor later. Plus by then ull be able to get the same one cheaper or a better one for the same price. Good luck

Agreed, that's an interesting choice!

GTX 1060 3GB shouldn't a able to reach more than 70-75 fps at ultra settings at latest games, so you could only enjoy 144hz at lowered medium settings or not that much demanding games like CS:GO. It depends on what games you're going to play on that setup.

In my opinion,
GTX 1070 would be a more future-proof option for high-end games like GTA, the witcher, crysis series etc. where you really can see amazing graphics and smooth gameplay.
GTX 1060 should have no problems reaching 144fps in lighter games (csgo, league of legends and other esports..).

I pondered this but I cannot find useful information online about why I would need a 7700k. I was trying to future proof. I don't video edit or photo edit. I do want to have two monitors and I do want to stream games (maybe). Can a 7600k accomplish all of this?
