XG2401, I'm sorry, technically it should be able, no?Is that Viewsonic XG240R? Couldn't find only XG240.
https://www.viewsonic.com/us/xg240r.html#specs
Between specs and manual, whoever typed documentation for Viewsonic made a mess of it. Specs say Hdmi 1.4 144Hz and manual says Hdmi 2 144Hz. Id say it's the latter and if your laptop has Hdmi 2 and this is the monitor you're looking at you should have no problem. Hdmi 1.4 is capable of 120Hz.
Thank you for your help, but then, I found a thread (https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/how-to-connect-to-a-120-hz-display.3268285/ ) where it shows in part 7.1 that the xg2401 can have 144hz with hdmiXG2402 would be better, that does 144Hz over Hdmi.
Also, I talked to the HP Support and they told me that I won't get those 144hz bc my laptop is capped at 60hz, is that right?
