Hello,

I recently acquired a new Benq 144hz monitor but I've noticed something that I don't like at all. Going from 60hz to 144hz (or even 100) makes the image a lot darker so I have to raise the gamma and activate a "Black equalizer" function to be able to see the lost detail which in place crushes the shadows/contrast.

Is this normal ? (getting a darker image on a display with refresh rate higher than 60hz?)

Thanks.

Thanks guys for the quick replies. Here is what I mean:

I've made sure to change the screen mode to the same preset (in case there was a difference) but that wasn't the case. By the way this happens while using a displayport cable.

SOLUTION:

I've discovered the root cause in the meantime. Apparently this is caused by the TV that I use as the second display (60hz). If I unplug the TV the brightness will go up on the Benq monitor (144hz). But honestly this is a hassle that I'm not sure I want to deal with (unplugging my TV every time I want to play something on my monitor). Doesn't seem to happen with an ASUS monitor.

Hope this might help others who get in the same situation.
