[SOLVED] 144hz display only has option for 60hz

I have an Acer GN246HL monitor that should be capable of 144hz, but in windows settings for the monitor, as well as nvidia control panel - it only shows a 60hz option. It's a 1080p display that is connected to a gtx 1060 6gb via Dvi-d cable.
Why is this occurring? And how do I enable 144hz on this monitor?

use display port cable to enable 144Hz

The monitor only has DVI, HDMI, and VGA inputs. I know that DVI is the only option to get the 144hz on this monitor, but still it isn't an option.

in that case u will need dual link dvi cable, if u see just 60hz cable doesnt work in dual line

btw can u post picture of your device manager - monitor info

What model 1060?

As said, dual link cable is needed. But if the cable came with the monitor then im wondering if the 1060's dvi port is single link. Wouldn't think so but worth checking out specific specs for the card.
