[SOLVED] 144Hz Drops down to 60 on game load

HELP!

I have a new 144Hz screen. I got it set up, and on day one I got Doom eternal playing nicely with freesync running at 125-144 Hz (as shown in game and FPS from screen overlay) Now, every time I load doom eternal, it drops the display back down to 60 Hz every time, so when I quit I have to change it back again in windows settings. What have I done wrong? what do I need to change or look at?

GFX: RX 5700XT Monitor: Aorus CV27Q Drivers : 20.7.2

Doom set to borderless window.

Check in the game settings for either
an fps cap, or V-sync.
and disable both.
