Been reading that hdmi doesn't support 144hz monitors. Getting mixed answers.

First I read the cord doesn't matter it's only in the monitor.

Second I read hdmi only supports 60hz.

Third I read hdmi supports up to 120hz?

Fourth I read the new hdmi supports 144hz.

Help mee. Just got a new monitor that's 144hz. Has all the ports, but I'm currently hdmi connected. Do I need to get a Display Port cord to get all the actual benifits? Is all the stuff I'm reading old and outdated? Shoot.

The hdmi port on Asus VG248QE does not support 144hz it only supports 60Hz. For the higher refresh rates you have to use a dual link dvi-d cable or displayport. Ive used both with mine and I've seem no discernable difference between them. Mine shipped with a dual link dvi-d cable.

Yeah. weird that Best Buy doesn't carry them, argued with one of the geek squad guys trying to tell him that you can't get 144hz from and hdmi, but he swore you could. My game has an option to pick the refresh rate. When using the HDMI it only allowed up to 60hz. When using the Display Port connection it offered up to 144hz... So yeah. To anyone who believes you can achieve 144hz with an hdmi your wrong, unless there is an hdmi cord I'm unaware of. Thank you guys!! Gameplay feels a lot smoother thinks to Display Port, you guys && my local pc shop that actually carried the displayport cord.
