[SOLVED] 144hz issue

hello so my freind has recently bought a 144hz monitor asus vg278he. And he owns a gaming laptop Legion Y520 Laptop. So the problem he is having is he cant connect a Display port or DVI cable into his laptop because it only has a HDMI. and the monitor only has a HDMI and DVI. Anyone know how he can play/use the 144hz on his monitor. What type of cable/convertor does he need to buy to be able to use 144hz. Thank you

Type of adapter he would need doesn't exist. If he wants a 144hz monitor he will need to buy a monitor that supports 144hz over hdmi.

Hes laptop has a mini Display port would that work

There are displayport to dual link dvi adapters that can do 120-144hz but they cost ~$100 and can be temperamental.

So will he need a HDMI 1.4 or 2.0 Cable i am guessing for him to run 120hz-144hz. Oh and his laptop only has a HDMI port and a Mini Display Port

There are no HDMI cables or adapters that will get you 144hz with that monitor. The only hope is an expensive displayport to dual link dvi adapter.
If he just bought it, return it and buy a monitor that supports 144hz over hdmi.

But the Monitor he bought asus vg278he doesnt have display port

At what point did I say it did?
You said the laptop has a mini displayport and that monitor has a dual link dvi port, hence the info about a displayport to dual link dvi adapter.

You will need mini displayport to displayport adapter and
displayport to dual link dvi adapter and
DVI dual link cable.
Pretty expensive conversion.
