Hey guys,

Recently I purchased a 144hz Monitor ( dell s2716dg ) and a 4k Samsung KU6400 60hz.
My wife always likes to watch me game so we set the screen to duplicate.

However this makes it so that my monitor automatically goes to the capped 60 Hz from the TV. This creates a weird experience for me whilst gaming since everything seems to stutter even more.

I've tried to add a custom resolution but I've had no succes as I cannot select this resolution for both screens.

Has anyone tried and succeeded in this before?

Would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Displays can only be duplicated if they are set to the same settings.

Rather than trying to duplicate, you should use extended desktop mode, and use some streaming software with a video preview window like OBS Studio, and drag it over to your secondary screen. That will allow you to run at 1440p 144 Hz will showing a copy of your screen at 60 Hz in the streaming program preview window.

I've used Duplicate Display on two displays with different refresh rates/resolutions (1440p, 75 Hz freesync monitor and 1080 60 Hz TV). I didn't verify that the monitor was still at 75Hz w/ freesync enabled, but I didn't get any sort of notification that freesync was turned off. And the resolution definitely didn't change.

Interesting, that seems to have been updated since last time I looked into it. I see that I can duplicate my 1440p monitor onto my 1080p monitor and set the resolution 1440p, but all options above 60 Hz have disappeared on the 1080p monitor.
