So this is a strange one....

I have a Acer xB2770HU 144hz G-sync IPS monitor.
CPU: intel i7 3770k
RAM: 16GB ram
GPU: 980TI SLI
PSU: 1000w corsair
MB: Asus maximus V formula
hard drive: 1TB SSD boot drive, 2x2TB raid 0 storage, 256GB SSD

I have a Acer xB2770HU 144hz G-sync IPS monitor.

However, I cannot achieve more than 120fps in ANY application. I tried a few games and benchmarks and all lock at 120FPS. It is the only monitor connected to the computer and is connected via Display port.

What I've tried
-made sure v-sync was off in game.
-set monitor to 144hz in both nvidia control panel and in windows:10
-Toggled on and off G-sync testing it both on and off.
-edited BF4 console to allow more fps(i could lower but not raise it past 120 and the monitor in game was set to 144 hz(1440p)as well.)
- checked the nvidia Global that v-sync was turned off.
-Uninstalled drivers then cleaned with the display driver uninstaller, and reinstalled drivers.

Any help would be greatly appreciated I can't find anything on the internet.

WOW!!! I've been working on this for DAYS and finally when i decide to post about it IT COMES TO ME!!

I had to disable the frame limit in RivaTuner! I had been on a 120hz monitor so long i forgot I even set the limit there!

Hopefully this post can still help SOMEONE down the line

Could you comment on how (if possible) you can globally set a cap for your current NVidia setup to stay in GSYNC mode?

Is Rivatuner the best method for this?

I know AMD just released their Crimson drivers which has a global cap implementation, but I don't know where that exists for NVidia officially. I don't have a GSYNC monitor but will be getting one.

Also, other people have suggested that the global cap has to be slightly BELOW the max refresh rate or it doesn't work (like 135Hz for 144Hz monitor or whatever).

Thanks.

Yeah RivaTuner Would work fine for that 😀 If you don't know how to do it heres how. (assuming you already have it installed with MSI Afterburner)

1.) Open Rivatuner
2.) On the right side of the window you will see Application Detection level, I would start at medium and adjust accordingly to make sure the right programs are being frame limited. (or just do high to limit all programs i believe to whatever frame rate you choose.)
3.) under Application detection level you will see Frame rate limit, set it to whatever you like.
4.) tick the box at the top of the window to start with windows ( so its always frame limiting)
5.) test to make sure it is actually limiting your FPS!

The monitor should stay in G-sync mode as far as I know while frame limited. Just make sure you actually enable G-sync in the nvidia control panel G-sync tab (the tab is only there if you actually have a g sync monitor connected.

Here you can also choose to have g-sync run even if the game is in windowed mode.

If you have any other questions or something was not clear please let me know!
