Hello,

I have a 144hz monitor connected via display port that runs at 144 FPS on the desktop and in older games normally speaking.

However, when I activate freesync it then locks to 60 FPS with no variation regardless of what tasks I'm doing.

Why is this happening when it's supposed to have a freesync range of 40-144hz according the to the monitor list on the AMD website?

Thanks.

That shouldn't happen.

My best guess is it is an issue with the AMD driver, either a glitch or there is a GLOBAL CAP that is set to 60FPS when Freesync is turned on which you may be able to change.

To be clear, is the DESKTOP now locked at 60Hz?

The cursor should feel much smoother at 144Hz then when the monitor is at 60Hz.

It's locked to 60hz whenever freesync is enabled regardless what is taking place on the machine.

The model of monitor is the Asus MG248Q:

Once the "adaptive sync" option is turned on in the monitor settings the display indicates "1920x1080@60hz" and it's noticablty slower then when it's turned off and indicates "1920x1080@144hz". This is also confirmed via FRAPS when playing games as it never moves from 60 FPS.

I have already installed the latest Crimson Driver and the issue still takes place.

1) maybe contact Asus Tech Support

2) What graphics card do you have?
I think you need an R9-260X or newer for gaming, and the HD7000 series only supports video (movies?).

So if you have an HD7970 for example, that won't work for games.

If not certain, the NEWER cards include R9-300, R9-Nano/Fury, RX-400/500, and the newer VEGA56/64 cards.

It's a Sapphire R9 290:

Of course I'm aware that it IS compatible with freesync.

Not sure what the issue is.

I guess my next step will be to unfortunately contact Asus...
