Hey guys. I'm looking to buy the AOC 24" LED g2460pqu 144hz monitor because people say it's stunning with that framerate. But here comes my question.

I have a r9 270x graphics card which isn't the best of the best. So depending on the game it will definitely not deliver 144 fps minimum in every game. So should I wait with buying the monitor and buy a high-end graphics card first so secure the 144 fps lock minimum or is it good enough if I get lets say 84 fps in a game like battlefield 4?

My question in a nutshell: Do you need 144 fps min. in every way to make enough use of a monitor with 144hz?

Solution
Depends on the game. With that GPU you will have a hard time not dipping under 144 fps. By no means is a 144hz monitor wasted if you do not achive that high fps. It can display UPTO 144 fps, that means that you will see a diffrence between 60 and 80 fps. How big that difference in smoothness is I don't know
