144hz Monitor worth it For Lower FPS? (Or: How to Gsync)

I recently bought a 144hz Gsync monitor for Battlefield 1, and because my last monitor was dying a slow death. I have a 980 Ti, so I thought that running Battlefield 1 on 144 fps wouldn't be a bad idea. However, the game consistently runs at much lower than 144 fps and looks awful with the constant drops. I thought Gsync was supposed to keep drops like that smoother. How exactly do I go about making it do that? Or should I return the monitor and return to 60hz?

Oh mate , i have 980ti supercllcked playing bf1 too , and i want to buy a 144hz screen no vsync and play at 120hz 120fps constant with vertical sync , what frame rate do you have? Is it a 1080p screen?

Well if that is what you are looking for I wouldn't recommend this monitor. I get anywhere from 75 to 120 fps with the refresh rate set to 144hz. It is 1080p, and I was under the impression that the 980 ti would be able to blow anything at that resolution out of the water. I guess not.

I had a serious fps problem in bf1 with dx12 drops less than 60 with 150% RS!!!! , are you playing with it? Remember this game is not designed with dx12 so it wont gain any visual effects , not worth it for nvidia cards! With dx11 i can easily run 75hz-75fps with vsync everything in 150% resolution scale so it should easily run 120fps with 100% resolution scale even with no oc!!! i will remove the vsync and test the frames for you later... Personally i could easily see the difference from 60fps/hz to 75fps/hz but some people wont so its not worth it for them. Never had a gsync monitor though but technically fps drops should be way more smooth than non gsync monitor with vsync on but always a drop is a drop so you get less frames-> less smooth gaming.

Ok , i tested it , my card (1540mhz clock and 3800mhz memory) oc 100% RS will get a minimum of 121fps so it might drop lower with vsync on , droping 1 setting on Ambient occlusion and anti aliasing seems to be able to keep it above 120hz/fps , so set the game at 120hz and if you have an asus monitor use lightboost. If it fails to play costant at 120hz/fps then you can drop at 100hz/fps , 60-100 difference seems to be big enough for me and alot guys are keep saying that above 100hz/fps gains are not that noticable...

with G-Sync dropping below 144fps isn't that much of a deal. but you need to activate it maybe.

on your performance issues, I'd look into the CPU. the 980Ti should get you 120fps stable.

furthermore G-Sync =/= V-Sync. when using G-Sync you disable V-Sync
