144Hz NO Gsync monitor is a waste for Nvidia card? Tearing problems?

Hello guys. I'm looking for a 2k 144hz monitor, and I want to avoid Gsync monitors, because are very expensive.
Is there a way to use a 144Hz monitor without Gsync, with my 1080, and to not have tearing?
I don't know...Adaptive sync from nv control panel or something like that?

Because I have to lock to 60 fps, no? :/

get the g-sync. It's actually a higher standard freesync, so only monitors that are higher quality can actually get it, because they have parts that will actually run smoothly and look good.

It will work at 144hz without it, but you'll have to deal with screen tearing.

No, it just locks to your monitor's max refresh rate. 60 fps on a 60 Hz monitor, but 144 fps on a 144 Hz monitor.
