Question 144Hz not working - tried the usual tips

Hey Guy's,

Frustrated here.. need some help.
So my setup is this:

• screen: MSI Optix MAG272QP (should be able to deliver 165Hz)
• 2560 x 1440
• Card: amd radeon rx 5700
• cable: display port

What have I tried already?
1) using advanced display settings to change the setting from 60 to 144Hz but... it only shows me the option of 60Hz.

2) Bought a new display port cable of high quality ... nope... nothing

3) updated drivers (of course)

4) tried some different screen settings using the screen menu

5) Tried the AMD radeon software, but no option there..


I'm out of ideas here... god, so frustrating. Anyone have an idea?

Format pc, install windows freshly custom and delete partitions, download and install display driver minimal once , setup settings to your choosing...game in peace.

Try a different cable, sometimes a old or bad cable can cause things like this, also DDU the drivers and reinstall the drivers, I wouldn't go as far as reinstalling windows, I'm sure that would fix the problem, but isn't necessary to get 165hz working.

Your high-quality cable what is the version? and try HDMI as well it can give you 100hz see your windows give the option of 100hz or not. (In order to get 100hz out of HDMI it has to be at least version 2.0 )

Hey all, thanks for the quick replies. The cable I bought was "DrPhone H120 - 8K Ultra HD DisplayPort to DisplayPort 1.4 - 1.5 Meter Male to Male - Nylon kable - 4K @144hz " So it should perfectly work.. But I'll try a HDMI as well. Then I'll remove drivers and reinstall and worst case I'll reinstall my windows. Not looking forward to that

Does the 144hz option appear when you lower the resolution to 1080p?
