Which monitor should I get with a GTX970 so that it can handle it?

I really want to give 144hz 1080p a try but I am worried about non-game use is gonna be bad. Asus VG248QE is obviously my choice right now.

Is 1440p a good option if I want it in 144hz? Can I even run it well? My price range is around how much Asus costs.

I believe he is referring to ghosting. But the high end AVHA panels that get you 144hz at 1440p have 4ms response times and some of the best input lag on the market.

The colors are certainly brighter on them, but the IPS glow kind of screws with accuracy. Not an ideal choice if you want to use it for more then gaming. Just gaming, the center of the screen holds your attention anyway, so it is good for its intended purpose.

Not that familiar with the 1080p 144hz displays, so I am not 100% sure who makes the panel.

tftcentral.co.uk tends to review popular monitors in great detail. I would go there for any lingering doubts.

When you are looking at TN panels, I would just make sure the monitor you pick has a very good adjustable stand. The viewing angle is somewhat narrow, particularly in the vertical. Not a big deal if you aren't going to have spectators, but getting it at a comfortable viewing height is important.

Depends on the monitor. As for the one you listed, that one is a TN panel. Means that it may not have the best viewing angles as opposed to an IPS panel. I personally prefer a TN panel when it comes to gaming but that is just my opinion. TN has less "ghosting" than a typical IPS panel.

A 970 can get the job done on 1440p at 144hz. I use an Acer Predator XB271HU powered by a GTX 970. The people saying the 970 isn't powerful enough are right, if you want every setting and their mama to be at the highest setting possible including junk like Hairworks etc. . If you don't mind messing with settings (AA is way overrated at higher res anyways) then the 970 can definitely handle it. I play W3 on High settings, never dipping below 60 fps, same with The Division (lol while I played it).

Granted when I'm playing at 60fps I'm not taking full advantage of the 144hz my monitor can do, but I consider that room for an upgrade :) Those MSI 1070's/1080's are sexy as hell

Any source for the blurriness issue? I've never heard of this complaint on IPS panels

In my experience you'll notice a big difference between an IPS panel and TN panel with all other specs equal.
