IPS always offers a better viewing experience, in my opinion. TN's are great for casual users, but if you sit in front of it for hours and hours a day, IPS is easier to look at.

It seems as if people blend in the map on my current 60hz ips
Well, Gsync/FreeSync will help sharpen it up...but it is subjective. You may also like 1440p too and prefer that to more frames (if budget limits you to choosing between resolution and FPS).
If there is a retailer that you can go and test the two out, that would be ideal.
You can also try VSR/DSR, if you have a card that supports it, to see if that sharpens it up for you too.
Since you have a beast setup and can get more than 60fps/hz go for any of the G-sync monitors they're priced from $380-$800 you'll be really be happy with any of them, just depends on your budget/needs.
The TN is at the lower end and IPS the top but you can't go wrong with any of them.
I went with the AOC G-sync the least expensive G-sync monitor a 1080p TN 144hz and love it, even colors are a huge upgrade over my last monitor and I do have IPS monitors at work/all my android devices so know how nice they are.
The upgrade with G-sync and either panel type is motion clarity which is a huge plus for gaming, your fps = your hz so the more you can produce the smoother things get.
You can't compare TN to IPS. What answer other than IPS > TN do you expect to get? Pricing 144 Hz TN is cheaper than 144 Hz IPS.

Increase your Saturation (AMD) or Digital Vibrance (NVIDIA), it'll make them stand out from the background.
That's what everyone is doing to be able to see the enemies. The secret to that is not the monitor, be it TN or IPS, regardless of how grey black looks on them. This is being used in the competetive scene as well.
