[SOLVED] 144hz video cable adapters

Alright guys, my friend bought an EVGA 2080Ti, which has 3 display ports and 1 HMDI 2.0 Port

HOWEVER - his monitor only has an HDMI 1.0 and a DVI port.

So... he isn't currently able to achieve 144 hz.

I know adapters can be the devil - so

Any suggestions on what to do/use before telling the poor soul to go ahead and just get a newer monitor?

DP to Dual link DVI adapters are expensive(~$100) and can be problematic. Imho a new monitor is the better option considering you can pick up a 144Hz 1080p monitor for $150.

It's either that or return the current gpu for a model with a dual link dvi port
