144hz with HDMI?

Hello,
I've searched arround but couldn't find a clear answer and a lot of posts on here we're outdated.

I have both a laptop and a desktop PC with a 144hz monitor connected to it via DVI-D. Sometimes I only have access to the monitor and my laptop, but not to the PC. My laptop only has a HDMI port, no display or DVI so is there any way I can use the 144hz monitor (in 144hz mode) with my laptop? Any adapters, converters, new cables,... anything?

I believe the only way you could achieve that would be with HDMI 2.0.

There are very few GPUs that can support HDMI2.0, and I don't believe any laptops that are capable of it.

Okay! Is it capped at 60hz or will 120hz (or anything higher than 60hz) work through HDMI?
