After years of lurking and finding most answers for everything under the sun, we weren't able to find sufficient information about this topic, so here we are asking our first question/post/thread.
Anyway, we are going to be purchasing a new notebook for gaming and pretty much have a simple question. Does anyone have any links or solid evidence that a 17.3 inch cools better or worst vs a 15.6 inch laptop. Assuming nothing else matters: specs are the same (absolute exact), and there is no specific need for one size or the other, price/power consumption irrelevant, and matters of mobility or conveniences vs the other are moot as well, is there any benefit to having one size over the other in terms of cooling (or any other terms not related to our above exclusions). If it matters, the notebook will contain a GTX 870m or 880m (assume 880m as that will likely be hotter than the 870m).
Concrete information or reasonable speculation are welcomed.
Our thoughts are conflicted as follows:
15.6: More compact, therefore heat is trapped more easily. Then on the other hand we think that it could also be cooled easier internally as the fans have less space to blow air
17.3: Exact opposite of the above, more internal space possibly allowing heat to be dispersed easier/faster. Then on the other hand, we wonder if the fans would have slightly harder of a time to cool the larger area.
So we're unsure which is more correct. Go brains go!
