Hey Everyone, just thought I'd post what I have so far and see if anyone has some advice. I'm putting this one together for a friend, I've built a few of my own but I'm still far from a pro so if anyone sees any glaring problems or if there's an obvious upgrade I can make, I'd love to hear it.

The build is mostly going to be for gaming right off, but my friend has only ever had cheap laptops before this and finally got a decent job and saved enough money to go for a desktop, so I kinda feel like he might end up trying out some more intensive tasks later on like streaming or something, so that's why I went with the i7. And same for overclocking, I don't imagine he'll get into it right away, but I figured he might want to later on, I've talked to him about it and he'd rather spring for a little more now to have the option later.

Biggest parts I'm not sure on are the mobo and psu but those looked good from what I could see. He's also going to keep looking for cases, so I just threw that one in there for the moment.

Thanks in advance everyone!

I'd take the 2700X over the 8700K, it'll perform just as good in games and the cooler that comes with it is excellent. Doing so saves a considerable amount of money to keep the budget under $1500 and add in 2.5 TB's more of storage.

Ok, thanks for the heads up! You think it's worth it to swap out the big ssd and go for the boot drive ssd/data drive hdd combo? I was just going to spring for a big ssd for him for the sake of convenience of having everything on one drive.
